Persian Wedding at the Washington Duke Inn: Leila and Adam
Leila and Adam’s stunning Persian wedding was a blend of Persian and Christian cultures with the incredible Washington Duke as their backdrop for the day. We love doing weddings of all types but we always have a special place in our heart for weddings which incorporate other cultures and backgrounds.
In the creative short film you will notice both a traditional western/Christian ceremony as well as elements of the Persian wedding ceremony in the film. You might also notice an unfamiliar (to many Americans) tradition of the Knife Dance. The Knife Dance is similar to some other weapons dances from other cultures and is a bit of a game. The first person to hold the knife will dance as typically the groom gives them money (or showers them with it as you see in the film). Once the money is received for that dancer, the dancer hands the knife off to another person who will continue the dance. It is all done in good fun and good humor for some time so that the guests can enjoy the music and the fun and excitement of the day.
At the reception, Leila and Adam also had a live percussionist who played along with the DJ throughout the evening. As a fun personal touch, we hired a live percussionist to perform a similar ensemble for the music chosen for the second part of their film just for a little extra detail.
Leila wore two separate dresses, one of which was her mother’s dress.
Leila and Adam were a blast to work with. Every detail of this wedding is something to behold and incredibly meaningful to their families and to them.
Additionally,we enjoyed working along side V+T photography and cannot say enough about the staff at the Washington Duke. Their hospitality was arguably second to none and we are excited to be returning there in a few weeks.
